5-2-2-1 in FC Mobile
A back five with wing-backs, a lone striker. Width comes from the wingers. This is the standard 5-2-2-1 entry in Manager Mode. The game tags it Balanced, Five Defenders.
The 11 positions
- Goalkeeper (GK)
- Left wing-back (LWB)
- 3 x Centre-back (CB)
- Right wing-back (RWB)
- 2 x Central midfielder (CM)
- Left winger (LW)
- Striker (ST)
- Right winger (RW)
What 5-2-2-1 is good at
- Three centre-backs cover the box and the gaps between them, so crosses and long balls rarely find a free runner.
- A back five (three centre-backs plus two wing-backs) is the hardest line to get behind, and it lets you hold a lead.
- Wingers hold the touchline and stretch the opposing back line, so the centre of the pitch opens up for runs.
- Wing-backs provide the width up and down the flank while the back three stays tight in the middle.
- One striker keeps the rest of the team compact and gives the midfield a clear target to feed.
Where it is weak
- Only three at the back leaves the flanks to the wide midfielders or wing-backs; if they are caught up the pitch, the outside centre-backs get dragged wide.
- Five defenders means fewer players forward, so the front line can be starved of service.
- A lone striker is easy to double-mark, and an isolated number 9 can switch the attack off.

Build Up
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | 3 | two wingers and a striker are built to run: get the ball to them early |
| Passing Distance | 2 | mix short and long so the front line gets balls in behind |
| Mentality | Balanced | no tag leans it one way |
| Positioning | Free | wingers or several number 10s can roam into gaps |
Offence
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Passing Tendency | 1 | two central midfielders: go direct rather than recycle |
| Cross Tendency | 3 | two wingers supplying a lone target |
| Shooting Tendency | 1 | shoot from close in, not from range |
| Positioning | Free | runners find gaps |
Defence
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure | 2 | press in bursts |
| Width | 1 | stay compact and force play wide |
| Aggression | 2 | with five at the back, keep it at 2 and let the spare man cover |
| Back Line | Cover | an odd-numbered back line does not play offside well: stay deep |
Best cards for each position
- Left wing-back (LWB): look for Interceptions, Crossing, Sliding Tackle
- 3 x Centre-back (CB): look for Standing Tackle, Def. Awareness, Interceptions
- Right wing-back (RWB): look for Interceptions, Crossing, Sliding Tackle
- 2 x Central midfielder (CM): look for Short Passing, Ball Control, Vision
- Left winger (LW): look for Dribbling, Ball Control, Finishing
- Striker (ST): look for Finishing, Positioning, Ball Control
- Right winger (RW): look for Dribbling, Ball Control, Finishing
Overall it needs fast wingers who can dribble.
